The short version: no tracking cookies, no analytics or advertising scripts, and the calculator doesn’t send your figures to a database.
Cookies
We don’t use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies, and we don’t load anything from other companies when you view a page — our fonts and files are all served from this site. The only cookie we set is a session cookie for the site owner’s admin area (it’s only used on admin pages, and only when someone signs in).
The calculator
The calculator works out its answer in your browser as you type, or on our server if you press the button with JavaScript switched off. We don’t store your figures. Because the form puts your figures in the page address (so you can share or bookmark them), they’ll appear in your browser history and may appear in our web server’s standard access logs. They aren’t linked to your name.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting keeps standard web server logs — such as the page requested, the time, your IP address and browser type — for security and to fix problems.
Links to other websites
Links to other websites go through a short redirect on this site (/go/…). When you follow one we count the click — the date, which link and which of our pages it was on — but nothing that identifies you. Once you arrive on another website (for example the official railcard site or a ticket retailer), that site’s own privacy policy applies.
If you email us
We use your email only to reply, and keep it only as long as needed.
